Our Youth Pastor and her husband have been working with the youth here for years, and now they’re retiring. I made a cake for the going away party the youth are having for them, featuring the logo they designed.
Marines Cake July 18, 2009
This is a 10″ round chocolate cake with buttercream I made for a young man in our church going into the Marines. His mom wanted something more youthful than the classic, formal seal. The top seal is a buttercream transfer. Around the sides are written phrases like, “THE FEW. THE PROUD.”, “SEMPER FI” and “OOH-RAH!”

Soccer Sheet Cake and Cupcakes June 27, 2009
This is a sheet cake and two dozen cupcakes I made for a girls’ end-of-the-season soccer party! The logo and soccer balls were buttercream transfers. The logo was the biggest I’ve attempted so far, which made it a little bit scary, but I think it worked out! The cupcakes are chocolate cake and the sheet cake is yellow cake marbled yellow and green to match the team’s colors.

Blooming Branches Cake May 15, 2009
Several people from my church are going on a trip to Haiti to help in an orphanage later this Summer. They are having a Trivia Night Fundraiser with a raffle, and they asked if I would make a cake to be raffled at the event. I could do anything I wanted, so I decided to base my design on the branches of a tree that blooms in our yard for a few weeks every spring. It has reddish purple leaves and tiny, pale flowers, and makes the walk to my garage smell fantastic (even if it is what caused me to drive my car into the side of the house, but that’s a story for another time…)
This version is a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. It smelled pretty good, too.

Triple Chocolate Polka-Dot Cake April 24, 2009
This is the other cake I made today. Apparently I was in a polka-dot mood. The cake is chocolate cake with whipped chocolate filling and chocolate buttercream on the outside. The dots are made from marshmallow fondant.
Luscious Lemon Daisy Cake April 24, 2009
Okay, so my cake break only lasted one weekend. My church asked for dessert donations for one of their ministry teams, so of course I had to make cakes!
I’ve only finished one so far. It’s a lemon cake with lemon buttercream. The daisies and other accents are made of marshmallow fondant. Yum!
